The other ( Left ) shows the net strength or weakness for the pair combined. A weak GBP and a strong JPY makes the combined GBPJPY reading weaker.
We feel this takes all guesswork out of finding the best pairs to trade and the ones we find to have the highest likelihood of continued trending.
In the example above you can clearly see our Forex Currency Meter on the bottom left showed the GBP (British Pound) to be weak on the 60 min, 180 min, 720 min (half day), 1440 (day) and 4320 min (3 day) time frames. The JPY (Japanese Yen) was the strongest currency across all time frames at that time. On the left you can see the GBPJPY had a -60 trend (we didn't even show the weakest example here!).
What happened next?
The GBP/JPY then fell 182 pips in 23 minutes! The GBP continued the rest of the day to be weak and JPY strong and fell another 300 pips during next 12 hours.
